A lovely story of young queer love. I found the writing style enjoyable. As an older (queer) person this story gave me feelings of hope, but the line "I'm sure you think you do" said to a parent saying "i love you" hit me really hard and I am sure will be living rent free in my mind for at least a few days. Parent relationships are quire complicated, especially as a teen, and I liked that this book showed a spectrum of experience, but damn, this made me so sad (and hit close to home in a way I was not prepared for). They meet at a gay prom in Ryan's town. Avery, a trans boy, and his friends travel a couple hours to attend. Avery has supportive parents. Ryan has some struggles with his parents, but an aunt who is an accepting adult. It's a quiet, heartfelt read. (read less)
